ja hallo
ich bin von ubuntu auf debian umgestiegen und wollte aus gewohnheit den avant window manager installieren aber irgendwie gestaltet sich das sehr schwierig kenn jemand nen gutes howto,die die ich gefunden habe führten alle ins leere und ich habe mit jeder menge abhängigkeiten zu kämpfen die ich nicht beseitigt kriege.

Von diesem Windowmanager habe ich noch nicht gehört, aber wie wäre es mit fluxbox Windowmanager:

Fairly similar to blackbox, from which it is derived, but has been
extended with features such as pwm-style window tabs, configurable
key bindings, toolbar, and an iconbar. It also includes some cosmetic
fixes over blackbox.
This package contains support for Gnome and KDE.
fluxbox bietet Unterstützung für KDE und Gnomeprogramme an.

Written by Alfredo Kojima almost from scratch, resembles the NeXTStep look
very closely, and it is now an official GNU project. Window Maker is not
overloaded with features, and it is easier to configure than most other window
managers. Its final goal is to produce a window manager that doesn't require
editing of configuration files. Window Maker is fast and doesn't require tons
of memory to run.

Um den XServer zu installieren muß nur das Paket xorg installiert werden:
X.Org X Window System
This metapackage provides the components for a standalone
workstation running the X Window System. It provides the X libraries, an X
server, a set of fonts, and a group of basic X clients and utilities.
Higher level metapackages, such as those for desktop environments, can
depend on this package and simplify their dependencies.
It should be noted that a package providing x-window-manager should also
be installed to ensure a comfortable X experience.
Den Xserver kannst du mit dem Befehl
"dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg"
konfigurieren.
Du kannst aber auch die Datei /etc/X11/xorg.conf mit einem Editor VORSICHTIG editieren. debconf erkennt ob eine Konfigurationsdatei in /etc manuell bearbeitet wurde und überschreibt NICHT automatisch diese Konfigurationsdatei (Debian ist nicht SUSE ;-)).
Den XServer kannst du testweise mit dem Befehl "startx" starten.
Bei irgendwelchen Fehlern mußt du mal in das /var/log Verzeichnis schauen. Da wird alles mitprotokolliert.
