ich habe da mal eine frage .ich wollte go!linux auf einem alten
cyrixrechner installieren, das ging aber nicht.es war da die rede von pentium * optimiert. daher meine frage ?
ist die distri auf cyrixrechnern nicht zu installieren ?
und wenn ja , warum wird darauf nicht hingewiesen ?

Die Go!Linux Distribution läßt sich auf einen Cyrix Rechner nicht
ohne weiteres Installieren.
Die Pentium Optimierung der Programme ist dabei nicht das Problem.
Mit dieser Option erzeugte Programme laufen zwar auf einem Pentium
(bzw. K6) schneller aber sie laufen weiterhin auf einem 486/Cyrix.
Das Problem liegt vielmehr im Kernelbild. Hier wird Assembler Code
eingebunden. Und dieser enthält bei Angabe der Kerneloption "Pentium"
Befehle, die auf einem Cyrix nicht vorhanden sind. Solltest Du
bereits ein Linux auf einem anderen Rechner installiert haben, so
kannst Du auf dem Rechner einfach ein neues Kernelbild erzeugen, und
mit diesem Booten.

Sorry for the English, but I have good news!
I got Go!Linux to work on my Cyrix 686 P150+ machine by downloading the boot.img file from the directory
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/redhat-6.1/i386/images/. Save this file to your harddrive.
Follow the directions in the Go!Linux magazine for making a boot diskette
but when you are asked for the source file for the boot diskette,
give the location where you saved the file on your harddrive.
