Hello ,
First of all,I\'m a total newby in forums ,so forgive me if I make mistakes of some kind.
I allso had the same problems with an external hardrivecase in regards to usb2.
On a pentium machine there where no troubles whatsoever but with my KT3 Ultra Aru and Asus A7N8X-E,it was a disaster.
Exactly the same troubles as you\'ve discribed where the result when i connected to usb2 .
Well I\'ve found the cause to all of this frustrating experiance,it has to do with the powersupply that came with the external casing,it\'s not able to cope with the energiehunger of the harddisk as the 5volt line is concerned.
There are two voltages on the adapter,12 v to supply energie to the mainboard of the external casing and 5v to the harddisk itself.
This 5v line isn\'t sufficient ,so i hooked up the drive directly to the 5v supply of my computer and let the rest of the casing fed through the adapter that came with it.
Suprise ,Suprise , no problems whatsoever anymore .
No more faltwarnings, instead a pretty fast external drive working on usb2 like it was supposed to do from the beginning.
Copying a 7.40 gigabyte file to it in less then six minutes is quite nice in my opinium.
So look no further,it\'s the poweradapter that causes headackes.
It\'s a pitty that this problem even exists,don\'t they test there products or what?
I hope iv\'e been of some use with this ,please let me know.
